Omanis believe that this sinkhole was created by a meteorite, even though it was a result of dissolution from underlying limestones. As a preservation effort, the municipality of Oman has constructed a park around this sinkhole, with a stairway leading to the lake. How cool is that?

Wadis

Home to some of the most beautiful valleys (wadis), outdoor lovers can make the most of Oman by exploring a different wadi in every city! Fancy a dreamy oasis? The most spectacular wadis in Oman is the Wadi Bani Khalid, Wadi Shab and Wadi Tawi – filled with blue lakes, stunning waterfalls, rocky surfaces and green plantations. Ruins of Tunif

Tanuf is a little village located in the middle of two well-known cities – Nizwa and Bahla (in the Al Dakhliya Governorate). This small village is known for the production of Omani bottled water (Tanuf, Jabal Al Akhdar, Salsabel). But that’s not the only highlight of Tanuf. This village also holds ancient ruins of its historical lost city – which was abandoned during the war of Jabal Al Akhdar in 1950. A visit to Tanuf is a mix of nature, architectural beauty and rich history.
