On the 28th August 2019, the UAE celebrates the 5th Emirati Women’s Day. Since its conception it has unabashedly united ladies and rejoiced in everything that makes the beautiful women of the UAE different, yet endearingly similar.
With a focus on tolerance this year, women from all walks of life are celebrated for their remarkable minds and actions. It’s a fabulous step towards recognising women in all their splendour and the UAE does a wonderful job in being at the forefront of women’s rights; setting an example that the world may follow.
We wanted to join in on the fun and spread the love by suggesting a few places for you to take your ‘Emirati Woman of the Year’ and shower her with the treats she deserves –
Roux: Main Course
Estimated Savings: AED80
Location: City Walk
Our Opinion: Roux is our favourite one-stop-shop for anything related to food and chilled vibes. You can come any time of day and grab a bite to eat, pull up a chair and linger awhile or even bring a date. It’s great for working lunches, business meetings, catch-ups with friends and of course mouth-watering food and must-try drinks. Roux is top of our list for taking that special lady (or maybe you just want to treat yourself) on Emirati Women’s Day.
Top Tip: As soon as we saw the pancakes, we fell in love. Give them a try!

Siraj: Main Course
Estimated Savings: AED90
Location: Souk Al Bahar, Downtown Dubai
Our Opinion: This is one of our top picks for Emirati Women’s Day. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his son have been seen tucking into the amazing food here on multiple occasions because Siraj offers a unique menu with a blend of delicious Emirati and Levantine flavours. Siraj is a slick addition to the city’s vibrant culinary scene. The elegant ambience combines an interesting mix of traditional and contemporary Arabic-inspired décor.
Top Tip: Dress to impress just in case you spot a member of the royal family…
Godiva Chocolatier: Ice Cream or Beverage

Our Opinion: It doesn’t get more indulgent than Godiva. Just the smell of the shop gets us excited and when you’re wandering around a mall, sometimes a little sweet treat is what you need to refuel.
Top Tip: Get the swirled mix of vanilla and dark chocolate ice cream. It’s unmissable and perfect for Insta.
Magnolia Bakery: Dessert
Estimated Savings: AED30
Location: Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi
Our Opinion: This beloved and iconic landmark from New York City’s West Village opened its first international location in Dubai and it’s synonymous with cupcakes, Magnolia Bakery kicked off the cupcake craze with signature pastel-coloured buttercream-frosted bitesize cakes that are irresistible! Visit them for classic American bakes, vintage décor and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Top Tip: Try their banana pudding. It’s famous and worth the hype!
Café Blanc: Main Course
Estimated Savings: AED50
Location: Eastern Mangroves Promenade, Abu Dhabi
Our Opinion: Café Blanc delivers a distinctive and unique dining experience with an extensive food menu and exclusive Lebanese cocktails and desserts. Combining tradition with creativity, this eatery is perfect for Emirati Women’s Day and a celebration of all things strong and feminine.
Top Tip: The view of the Mangroves is simply beautiful, so try and nab a table by the window. Sadly, August is still too hot to perch outside.
