7 Of The Best Gluten-Free Restaurants In The UAE

Going out to eat if you’re gluten-free can be a hassle, especially when you’re in a group (no one wants to be the picky one!). Luckily, many restaurants in the UAE have begun to cater to allergies, offering food substitutions and identifying GF items on their menu. Here are some of our favourites, whose menus include a minimum of two specific GF menu items OR substitutions are available!

So, just which gluten-free hot spots are on our list?

Carluccio’s (DXB & AUH)

Location: Various, including The Dubai Mall (DXB) & Yas Mall (AUH)

This ENTERTAINER favourite is also gluten-free friendly! Since pasta and pizza crust are usually wheat-based, Italian restaurants across the country have stepped up to provide their patrons with GF substitutes. They also have a great risotto menu, a dish that is ordinarily GF! If you can’t be bothered to cook, but are too far into a Netflix binge to go out, order in and use your 2-for-1 on delivery!

The Croft (DXB)

Location: Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites

This one comes with a personal recommendation from my BFF (and happens to be one of my favourite spots in DXB!) The friendly staff at this cool British gastropub are accommodating and the menu notes items which are GF. While you’re there, don’t forget about your Cheers offers, but stay away from the hops (aka GLUTEN)!

Jones the Grocer (DXB & AUH)

Location: Various, including Sheikh Zayed Road (DXB) & Al Raha Gardens (AUH)

There’s a million good things we could say about Jones the Grocer…the menu is superb, the staff are very friendly, and there are locations all around Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Oh, and they have lots of gluten-friendly dishes for every meal.

Friday Brunch in Giardino at Palazzo Versace (DXB)

Location: Palazzo Versace Dubai

Brunches in Dubai are many things, but food-allergy accommodation doesn’t top the list. If you’re avoiding dairy or wheat, you may not have the same choice as your dining partners. This is definitely not the case at Giardino’s Friday Brunch, which is a monthly offer this month! Let them know of your food allergies when you make your booking and they will ensure you have plenty of fresh, delicious options.

Gourmet by Kcal (DXB)

Location: Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina

If you have any food allergies (or if you’re just looking to eat healthier, without scrimping on the taste) Gourmet by Kcal is about to be your new favourite spot. The healthy and organic options are abundant and the menu is unique and innovative. A great place for lunch with friends, or even a romantic dinner. Did we mention they’re licensed too?

Hickory’s (AUH)

Location: Yas Links Abu Dhabi

This is one of my favourite places to visit in Abu Dhabi, located at the beautiful Yas Links golf club. Not only do they have a handy menu key indicating dishes that may not be suitable for everyone, they have an entire section dedicated to gluten-free!

The Café (AUH)

Location: Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Villas

Located at the stunning Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi, The Café not only clearly marks what dishes are gluten-free, they’ve also included which dishes are free from: lactose, GMO, sugar, nuts, dairy, eggs and meat! The menu is wide-ranging, so there is sure to be something for everyone…no matter their food preferences! Pro tip: Have a look at their menu in the App by selecting the DETAILS page, then MENU!
